Deco Would Like To Be With Jose Mourinho According to Victor Vago at the Daily Mail, Chelsea midfielder Deco would like to join Inter Milan and boss Jose Mourinho. He said,

“I won’t deny that there is contact, but nothing is defined. It’s a solution which I welcome, of course, and it would be a pleasure to be back with Mourinho, but I don’t want to go into details, because it’s not me who’s dealing with the matter.”

Stephen Ireland Would Like New Deal Soon If Possible
According to Chris Bailey at the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland would like to sign a deal soon but is not worried if unable to do so. He said,

“I don’t think the contract is a major issue for people to look at … I am going to be here regardless. I have more than two years left on my current deal so it is not close to running out or anything. We are in talks and, fingers crossed, if they go well it will all be done as soon as possible so I can enjoy the summer and look forward to pre-season.”

Aston Villa To Spend Less This Summer
According to Express and Star, Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner admitted that the club expects to spend less this summer than last. He said,

“I would expect to invest less this summer than last summer. When we set out to build up the squad, we probably expected year four to mean more modest spending than year three.”

“With respect to the squad, that is what the manager does. With respect to the finances, it is about building the business and trying to generate more of the funding that strengthens the squad from internal operations, which means we are increasingly conscious of not adding debt.”

“Once you start getting into debt as the vehicle of achieving your goals you are getting into a different game. That game is not football.”

“We’re doing everything in our power – but our power sometimes can’t be compared to the power of other clubs.”

Arsenal have been linked with the defender.

May 23rd, 2009 According to Richard Bailey at Sky Sports, Fulham defender Brede Hangeland stated that he has not received any offers and that he is happy staying at Fulham. He told Dagbladet,

Bolton Linked With Portsmouth Defender
According to the Daily Mail, Bolton boss Gary Megson is prepared to offer Portsmouth £3 million for defender Sylvain Distin. Distin recently said,

May 24th, 2009 According to Tony Little at The Sun, Sunderland want to sign Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce if the club does not get relegated. A source supposedly said,

“This is a top-five club in the Premier League and there’s no other club I’d rather be at.”

According to Sky Sports, Everton have agreed to sign Hamburg defender Shkodran Mustafi. There will be no transfer fee but the club will have to pay a “FIFA training compensation.” The teenager has agreed to a three-year deal.
